Description:

This workshop will provide the basics of play therapy, what it is and how it works to bring about healing for children and families. Participants will get a taste of directive play therapy techniques. Come prepared to also learn how to become a Registered Play Therapist™! 

Presenter: Sonia Hinds, APRN, PMH-BC, RPT-S™ 

Sonia Hinds, APRN, PMH-BC, RPT-S™ is the Founder and CEO of Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars. and Founder and Executive Director of Barstow Acres Children’s Center, a non-profit practice providing children's mental health services. She is a 24-year military veteran having served 5 years in the Army Nurse Corps and 19 years with the US Public Health Service as a Commissioned Corps Officer. Ms. Hinds is trained in Gestalt Play Therapy with Violet Oaklander (retired) and Child-Centered. She also authored chapters in Play Therapy in the African-American Village and Cultural Issues in Play Therapy, edited by Eliana Gil, PhD, RPT-S™ and Athena Drewes, PsyD, RPT-S™. Ms. Hinds received the MD/DC APT 2019 Outstanding Service Award.

The Maryland and Washington, DC Boards of Psychology Examiners Recognizes national Association of School Psychologist approval status with CBPS and grants CE hours to clinical psychologists in Maryland and Washington, DC.
