Training Descriptions

CBPS training is suitable for the following professions & credentials:

  • Social Workers (LCSW, LMSW, LISW, AAW)
  • Psychologists (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed. D.)
  • School Counselors & School Psychologists
  • Professional Counselors (LMHC, LCMHC, LPC, LCPC)
  • Marriage & Family Therapists (LMFT, LIMFT)
  • Art Therapists
  • Play Therapists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Graduate Students
  • and other mental-health related fields

Training courses are labeled with a difficulty level in order to ensure that participants understand which trainings are most suitable for their current level of training.  These levels can be found along with the training descriptions as well as on promotional materials.  They read:

Beginner: Beginner level training means that no previous experience is needed in order to participate.

Intermediate: Intermediate level training means that individuals who attend should have already received a foundation in play therapy, therapy with children, and/or other topic areas being presented.

Advanced:  Advanced level training requires individuals who attend to have a strong background in the topic area being presented or have previously attended any pre-requisite seminars as well as having a strong foundation in the field of play therapy, child psychotherapy, etc.

Cancellation Policy:

Written cancellation must be received in our office at least ten working days prior to the training.  A $25.00 processing fee will be deducted from your refund.  Otherwise, a voucher will be given.  If you do not notify us a minimum of ten business days prior to the training of your intent to cancel, you will not receive a refund or credit.  Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars reserved the right to cancel a training or workshop due to inclement weather or not enough attendance.  in this event, CBPS will provide you with a full refund.  In the event of inclement weather, please check your email or voicemail for CBPS notifications/instructions.

Change of Instructors:

CBPS reserves the right to change instructors if needed to ensure an effective training.  In the vent that this takes place you will be notified with the change as soon as possible.

Continuing Education Approvals:

CBPS is approved by the District of Columbia and the Maryland Social Work Examiners to sponsor Category 1 continuing education programs; CBPS is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements.  CBPS solely is responsible for all aspects of the program.  NBCC Provider #5763; approved by the National Association of School Psychologists, approval #1067.  Approval #PCE 1466.  APT Approved Provider 97-034.  CBPS is recognized by SED’s State Board for Social Work, provider #0122 and Mental Health Counselors, provider #MHC-0009 and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, provider #MFT-0008 in New York.  CBPS maintains responsibility for this training.

Approved for Clock Hours for Art Therapists (LCAT, ATR-BC) through NBCC.

Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) approval pending.*
