Calendar of Events

December 19: Open House from 12:00-5:00 p.m.
Come and enjoy sweet treats to celebrate the Christmas season at 590 Main St. Prince
Frederick, across from The Old Field Inn. Take a tour of our facility and learn about our programs.

December 20: Fashion show curtain call. Ages 5-21 from 9:00-12:00
Come to Southern Maryland Community Center in Lusby, MD. Wear your best
clothes, bring your best talent, and most of all show us your best smile.

December 27: Second curtain call. Ages 5-21 from 11:00-3:00
Don’t miss our second call to show us your talent or your walk. Same place.

January 6: Parent Education Series and Children’s Social Skills Group, session II.
Call for times and days and to register. Parents and children have separate sessions with our
staff. Different topics are presented for parents and children. Eight week sessions.

March 14: Fashion Show Extravaganza at Mary Harrison Cultural Center
The Cultural Center is located at Northern High School. From 5:00-8:00 p.m. Enjoy an
evening of talent and fashion. We will have a concession stand and silent auction. Models
Ages 5-21 needed. Vendors may register for a table. Place an ad in our souvenir book.

March 16: Parent Education Series, Children’s… session III. See above for details.

May 17: Mother-Child Tea Party. Location to be announced.
Spend a pleasant afternoon celebrating mother, with games, music, door prizes, yummy
treats and of course, tea! Pose with mom for a photo to capture this special occasion.
Submit your original poems written to mom to be published in our book of poems.

June-July: Therapeutic Summer Camp
Children are engaged in social skills training, anger management, therapeutic yoga, sports activities,
art therapy, Brain Gym®, pet therapy, music, dance, field trips and Equine Assisted
Psychotherapy. Our staff consists of licensed therapists. Held here at Barstow Acres.

October 9 & 10: 4th Annual Power Empowerment Conference.
Location to be announced. This conference, held in Calvert County, will provide valuable information
about developmental and mental disorders in children and adolescents. Learn signs and symptoms,
diagnostic criteria, treatment modalities and available resources.
